When does wind advisory end for Lehigh Valley region?

As a National Weather Service wind advisory was set to end at 6 p.m. Monday in the Lehigh Valley region, utility companies were reporting most power outages had been repaired.

Winds from the northwest were forecast at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, before gradually weakening late in the afternoon, the weather service said. The advisory applied to a region encompassing Lehigh, Northampton, Warren and Hunterdon counties.

Wicked winds leave some in the dark

As of about 5:15 p.m., JCP&L was reporting Hunterdon County as the site of most lingering outages: 116, out of 59,797 customers served. Delaware Township had the most, at 63.

Warren County outages were down to 17, out of 51,226 accounts, said JCP&L. They were spread throughout the county, from Knowlton south to Pohatcong townships and east to Frelinghuysen Township and Hackettstown.

Met-Ed, a FirstEnergy company like JCP&L, reported no outages in Lehigh County as of 5:15 p.m. and eight in Northampton County, out of a combined 70,784 customers.

PPL Electric Utilities reported 17 customers out in Lehigh County as of 5:15 p.m., out of 166,292 accounts, and three in Northampton, where it has 80,054 customers. Most were in the Bethlehem-Lower Saucon Township, with a few in Lower Milford and Williams townships.

Winds overnight into Tuesday were forecast at 6 to 13 mph, still from the northwest, amid temperatures dipping to 22 at Lehigh Valley International Airport, the weather service said. Tuesday is forecast to be mostly sunny, with a high near 43, and a southwest wind at 3 to 8 mph, followed by a nighttime low around 28, at the airport.
