UEFA, the organiser of the competition, must communicate the new schedule starting Wednesday, after having attended its executive committee, but many details have already been leaked. The instance of the football european should announce a format new for the end of the competition : the final tournament with the four quarterfinals, the two semi-finals and the final all played on a single match and in a same place. To facilitate the organization and limit travel, the city chosen for this "Final 8" should be Lisbon (Portugal) rather than Istanbul (Turkey), which was originally scheduled to host the final.

The exact dates of the last games of this edition 2019-2020 of the champions League are not yet known, but many european media, including l'equipe in France, indicate that this final tournament should be held from 12 to 23 August . What about four-eighths of finals, which have not yet occurred ? In this respect, the intentions are even more blurred. UEFA could offer to organize these matches in Lisbon, or in the cities originally planned, namely Barça - Napoli, Barcelona, Bayern - Chelsea in Munich, City - Real to Manchester and Juventus - Lyon to Turin. The schedule of this champions League 2019-2020 had initially been established in the following manner : the phase of hens was fought from 17 September to 11 December, the knockout stages had to compete for the period from 18 February to 26 march. They were to be followed by quarter-finals, from 7 to 15 April, semi-finals, from 28 April to 6 may, before the grand final, scheduled on Saturday, may 30, 2020, to Istanbul in Turkey. This calendar fell completely in the water and UEFA should, therefore, decide to organize the end of the competition from 12 to 23 August, abandoning the round-trip format, in order to restrict the number of matches and finish the competition before the month of September (see above).
