The federal government is accusing Turkey of violating international rules after entry ban for Bundestag deputy Andrei Hunko. The politician of Left Party wanted to enter Turkey as an election observer within framework of an OSCE delegation. In such a case, " host country should not have any influence on composition of delegation," said a spokesman for Foreign Office.

The Office, in coordination with Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), is in favour of lifting entry ban, spokesman said. Both federal government and OSCE had made ir stance "clear to Turkish side." Hunko continues to hold on to his plans: "I'll be ready if permission is yet to come," he shared.

Hunko had already been electoral observer in Turkey at constitutional referendum in April 2017. He had criticized " undemocratic and unfair conditions" at time of vote. The Turkish government accused him of sympathy for banned Kurdish Workers ' party PKK and doubted his objectivity.

In Turkey, parliamentary and presidential elections are held on Sunday. According to polls, head of state Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has to reckon with a loss. If he does not receive an absolute majority in first round, he must go into a runoff election on 8 July.
