ARD-German trend: Approval of Jamaica Coalition declines significantly

Three weeks after start of exploratory talks for a Jamaican coalition, voters ' consent to such an alliance has fallen significantly. As results of ARD survey show Germany's trend, only 45 percent of Germans rate a coalition of union, FDP and greens as very good or good – twelve percentage points less than in October.

This means that a majority of German respondents now think that a Jamaica coalition would be less good or bad for Germany. In particular in case of Green supporters, approval of current coalition negotiations is significantly decreased. Although 55 percent still advocates a Jamaica Alliance, value has fallen by 21 percentage points compared to previous month. With FDP supporters, approval of nine points fell to 71 percent, with Union supporters by two points to 70 percent.

This view also represented 62 percent of respondents in Bavaria. A decision regarding future of Seehofer is expected at latest at CSU party congress in December.

For German trend, research institute Infratest Dimap, on behalf of ARD, asked a total of 1,505 voters by telephone. The fault tolerance is according to information between 1.4 and 3.1 percentage points.
