Nuclear conflict: D As nuclear agreement is not negotiable

Iranian President Hassan Ruhani categorically rejects amendments to International Atomic Agreement. "The nuclear agreement is not re-negotiable, and Iranian commitments will not go beyond this deal," he said in a telephone conversation with French president Emmanuel Macron after Iranian statements. At same time, however, Ruhani signalled willingness to hold separate talks on situation in Middle East, in particular on " stability and security of region, especially fight against terrorism".

The French government shared that Macron wanted to preserve nuclear agreement. At same time, however, he is calling for talks on Iranian missile programme, on long-term control of nuclear activities and on major crises in Middle East region.

Iran had concluded a nuclear agreement in mid-July 2015 with five UN veto powers United States, Russia, China, France and Great Britain as well as Germany. The agreement, which has been in force since January 2016, is intended to make it impossible for Iran to develop nuclear weapons. The country has been subjected to strict conditions for use of nuclear power for at least ten years. In return, normalisation of economic relations was envisaged.

US President Donald Trump must decide by 12 may wher sanctions against Iran that have been suspended by agreement will remain in force. France's president, Macron, had launched negotiations on an extended agreement. Particular attention should be paid to ballistic missile programme of Iran and its role in region. During ir visit to Washington, Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) had also shown openly to supplement agreement with furr provisions.

Trump checks Macron's suggestion

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo clearly opposed receiving nuclear agreement in its current form. "The deal is very flawed," he said after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv. US President Trump is very clear on issue. "If we can't improve it, he'll quit deal."

Trump's national security adviser, John Bolton, as Pompeo a hard-on foreign policy, told television channel Fox News that decision on nuclear agreement had not yet been taken. The US president is currently testing Macron proposal.

Chancellor Merkel telephoned on Saturday with Macron and on Sunday with British Prime minister Theresa May on Iran agreement, as government spokesman Steffen Sally shared. All three were once again in favour of US remaining in international agreement.
