The OPCW has been able to begin investigations weeks after the suspected poison gas attack. Samples from the Syrian city are now being tested in the Netherlands.

OPWC: Chemical weapons inspectors have taken samples in Duma

Two weeks after alleged poison gas attack in Duma, chemical weapons experts began ir investigations in Syrian city and took samples. The international experts of Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons have, according to institution, visited one of places in Duma to collect samples for analysis in connection with allegations of a use of chemical weapons on 7 April 2018, shared Organization. These samples would now be analyzed in Nerlands. After an assessment of situation on spot, OPCW wants to decide on anor visit to Duma.

The OPCW experts had to wait for days on mission. Security problems were mentioned as a reason. United Nations employees had recently been under fire when y wanted to explore security situation for OPCW team. The West suspects that Syrian government and its ally, Russia, is trying to obstruct investigation.

The US State Department accused two countries of disappearing evidence of use of chemical weapons. There are credible clues to that. Thus, representatives of Russia, toger with government in Damascus, tried to deny access to Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in Duma and to delay arrival of inspectors re.

In Duma, it is supposed to have come to a poison gas attack at beginning of April, for which West is responsible for Syrian governance under President Bashar al-Assad. According to local helpers, at least 40 people were killed in attack. Shortly reafter, rebels agreed to a deduction from city.

On night of 14 April, United States, France and Great Britain bombed several sites of Syrian chemical weapons production in order to prevent Syrian leadership from possibly continuing to use chemical weapons. Syria and Russia n accused west of breaking international law.
