"It's been a long time since someone from area has been so in trouble," says 28-year-old farmer Tu from village of Baan Jong. The village is located just two kilometres from entrance of cave.

Meanwhile, four rescued boys were brought to ambulances, and a helicopter flew children to hospital. Little is known about state of health of children: authorities have so far not expressed ir opinion. According to media reports, at least one boy had to be stabilized for a longer period of time before being transported furr. "The operation went without any problems," governor neverless claimed.

Hundreds of journalists also follow every development in cave. The locals, on or hand, can hardly be disturbed by press. There are few spectators in front of media centre. The cars on road to Chiang Rai usually happen without stopping.

The rain is coming back

For rescue workers, time is now scarce: On Sunday, tropical rain began again, which would have almost become children's doom.
