Theresa May has lost an important Brexit vote in the British Commons. Several members of the government group also voted against the Prime minister.

United Kingdom: Parliament enforces veto right to Brexit

The British Parliament has secured a veto right over Brexit agreement – against will of government of Prime Minister Theresa May. In vote on an amendment to EU's exit law, several members of government group agreed with opposition and brought may ir first defeat in Parliament. The amendment was adopted with 309 votes, 305 MPs voted with government. May governs with a majority of only seven mandates.

The amended text of draft law obliges Government to have an agreement on EU withdrawal with Brussels approved by a legislative procedure in Parliament. The parliamentarians want to increase ir influence on Brexit negotiations in Brussels.

BREXIT Minister David Davis, on Wednesday morning, tried in a letter to appease renegade Tory deputies and promised m a "significant vote" on agreement. Brexit hardliners accused EU-friendly group under leadership of former attorney general and Conservative MEP Dominic Grieve of wanting to obstruct entire EU exit law.

The EU exit law is intended to end basis for EU law in United Kingdom. At same time, all EU rules are to be transferred to national law so that re is no chaos in exit. May has to reckon with furr defeats in coming weeks. Hundreds of amendments have been tabled on law.
