“Canada welcomed my family and me and gave us the opportunity to have a better life. It allowed me to live my dreams,” Davies noted Tuesday morning on his Twitter account.

"It's a great honor to play for Canada and I want to give back," he added. So, I decided that I will offer my income from the World Cup.

As a reminder, Canada will participate in the Men's Soccer World Cup starting November 21 for only the second time in its history, after an initial presence in 1986.

The 21-year-old Davies is a star on the Canadian team. Color bearer of Bayern Munich, Germany, the athlete was born in a refugee camp in Ghana before immigrating to Canada, more precisely in Alberta, at the age of 5.
