The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, will chair next Monday, May 6, in Madrid, a new meeting on Generation of Opportunities, a Europa Press project in collaboration with the consulting firm McKinsey

The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the El Beatriz Madrid auditorium with a welcome by the executive president of Europa Press, Asís Martín de Cabiedes, which will give way to the minister's intervention.

Next, Albares will participate, along with McKinsey senior partner Tomás Calleja; the president of the Post Office, Pedro Saura; the CEO of Enagás, Arturo Gonzalo; and the president of Indra, Marc Murtra, in a round table on 'Competitiveness and security in strategic sectors', moderated by the director of Management and Institutional Relations of Europa Press, Candelas Martín de Cabiedes.

Together they will analyze the challenges facing Europe in the current geoeconomic context, the measures necessary to reduce the continent's competitiveness deficit while guaranteeing sustainability and security, public-private collaboration in this area and the challenges and opportunities that arise for Spain and its companies.

According to McKinsey, the new geoeconomic era has highlighted some fragilities of Europe, which must accelerate its economic growth and enhance its competitiveness while preserving its model of sustainability and inclusion.

To increase competitiveness, it is necessary for European policymakers and companies to jointly promote a bold and integrated agenda, according to the consultancy, which identifies innovation and technological disruption, energy autonomy, and the reconfiguration of supply chains as key areas. , company size, capital, talent and rules on competition and markets.

Generation of Opportunities is a platform for the debate and dissemination of the main business initiatives that seek to take advantage of new opportunities for sustainable growth. 29 companies have already joined this initiative: Acerinox, Aedas Homes, Aena, BBVA, Coca-Cola, Correos, Enagás, Endesa, Esade, Fujitsu, GSK, Iberdrola, Ikea, Inditex, Indra, Mapfre, Mercadona, Merlin Properties, Mutua Madrileña, Redeia, Repsol, Samsung, Telefónica, Danone, Huawei, Kellanova, Naturgy, Prosegur and Schindler.

The event on May 6 will be the seventh event organized within the framework of Generation of Opportunities, after the event on February 5, chaired by the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno.

Since July 1, 2021, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has participated in the events held by the platform; the then first vice president of the Government and minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño; the third vice president and minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera; the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant; and the second vice president of the Government and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz.
