Don't expect Sunday's Oscars to be an escape from the 24/7 news cycle. No matter how much fizzy red-carpet fashion policing there is to be done, "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda says the ceremony will have serious - and seriously political - moments.
Brace yourselves, people. "It's a political time, so I imagine the Oscars will look exactly like your Twitter or Facebook feed," he wrote in a guest column for the Hollywood Reporter. "Why should we ignore for three hours what we're talking about 24 hours a day?"

The composer is nominated for "How Far I'll Go," his song for Disney's "Moana."
Miranda noted that political statements at the awards show aren't new, citing actress Kim Basinger, who presented an award in 1990, telling the audience that one of the year's best movies, "Do The Right Thing," hadn't been nominated. "For her to take a stand, 25 years before #OscarsSoWhite, was incredible," he wrote.
