A computer failure recorded this Wednesday in the Volkswagen network at its world headquarters in Wolfsburg, northern Germany, paralyzed the production of its vehicles in the country for several hours, although, according to the German newspaper 'Handelsblatt', the problem also affected to other plants of the group outside Germany.

The company has reported that the problem has been solved this morning and that the network is stable again, according to the latest information published by the German newspaper.

"The global production network is operational and production is expected to continue as planned. Individual systems may still be affected during a transition phase," the German vehicle manufacturer said.

For now, the causes of this failure are unknown, although it is ruled out for the moment that it was due to a computer attack. A company spokesperson told Reuters that "an external attack is unlikely to be the cause of the system malfunction."

According to Reuters, the interruption of production affected the German plants in Emden, Osnabrueck, Hannover, Dresden and Zwickau, as well as the component factories in Braunschweig, Kassel, Chemnitz and Salzgitter.
