The search for a missing 2-year-old boy ended in Orlando Tuesday, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
An Amber Alert was issued for Bane Wheeler Tuesday evening after officials said he was taken around 10 a.m. by his father, Daniel Wheeler.
Wheeler and the child were reported safe in Orlando about 10:30 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Wheeler is said to be on felony probation and is going through “a custody battle” with Bane’s mother, the Sheriff’s Office said. Wheeler is accused of taking Bane from his mother.
“The mother was distracted and Daniel Wheeler took Bane and switched vehicles,” the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said on social media. “We are working with the state attorney on charges.”
The Sheriff’s Office said the child was “grabbed and thrown in a car.”
“Bane doesn't know what's going on,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sheriff’s Office said Wheeler has a past criminal record for assault and domestic violence.
No further details about the case were immediately available Tuesday.
