The payment services platform Worldline reported this Friday of the "sudden death" yesterday at the age of 79 of its president, businessman Bernard Bourigeaud, who was founder of the French technology group Atos Origin.

"As the founder of one of the largest European digital services companies, through Atos Origin, and also a pioneer in the early stages of consolidation of the payments industry through the creation of Worldline, he leaves the strong mark of a visionary leader committed to the global evolution of technology companies," the company highlighted in a statement.

In accordance with the succession plan, Worldline's appointments committee has recommended that the interim chairmanship of the board of directors be assumed by Georges Pauget, lead independent director, pending the appointment of a new chairman following a search process to be launched according to the governance of the company with a view to the annual general meeting.
