Byung Ho Park clears waivers; Perkins has setback; Light traded

Designated hitter Byung Ho Park has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Class AAA Rochester by the Twins. Park was designated for assignment last week as the Twins made room to add free agent righthander Matt Belisle. It was a gamble that no team would claim Park and the $9 million remaining on his contract, considering he batted .191 in 62 games for the Twins last season

Also, a quick update from colleague Patrick Reusse, who is in Fort Myers: Reliever Glen Perkins felt a familiar catch behind his left shoulder and won't throw off mound on Friday as his recovery plan had targeted. Perkins had season-ending shoulder surgery last June.

Another update: Reliever Pat Light, who was designated for assignment Monday, has been traded to Pittsburgh for cash considerations. Light pitched in 15 games for the Twins last season after being acquired from Boston.

As for Park now is expected to report to camp as a non-roster invite and fight for a spot on the Opening Day roster. Park already is in Fort Myers, working out at the Twins' year-round facility.

It will be interesting to see how Park does in his second major league camp. His power is legit.. But he seemed to struggle witjh velocity at times, then would cheat and fooled with breaking stuff. Also, how much did his hand injury last season affect his hitting?
