Cop shoots himself in leg responding to dog complaint

FRANKLIN LAKES -- A cop shot himself last week while responding to a dog complaint, officials said. 

The officer, whose name was not released, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday afternoon, Police Captain John Bakelaar said in a press release. 

The officer's injury was non-life threatening and no else was injured in the shooting, Bakelaar said.

Few details were released in the shooting.

"We are looking into the circumstances," said Bakelaar. "We have no further comment at this time."
