DS will grow 11% in the Spanish market in 2023 and will expand its dealer network

MADRID, 13 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The French automobile firm DS Automobiles foresees an 11% growth in its sales in the Spanish market by 2023, exceeding 5,500 units, and among its plans for next year is also the expansion of its dealer network in the country, up to the 40 physical points, compared to the current 35 DS Store.

As for the end of the current year, the brand expects to reach 5,000 units delivered in 2022, although in the first eleven months of the year it has registered 4,359 passenger cars (22.3% more in year-on-year terms), with a market share of the 'premium' segment of 3.4%, as reported by the director of DS Automobiles for Spain and Portugal, Borja Sekulits, in a meeting with the press.

In this sense, DS currently occupies the sixth position in the ranking of the 'premium' market in Spain, in which Mercedez-Benz is in the lead, with 33,571 units (26.2% share in this market), followed by Audi (31,203 units and 24.4% share), BMW (27,432 units; 21.4% share), Volvo (9,505 units; 7.4% share) and Mini (7,132 units; 5.6% share ).

On this, the French firm has highlighted that its 22.3% growth in registrations contrasts with the 2.9% drop in the 'premium' market accumulated up to the penultimate month of the current year.

As for the brand's models, the DS 7 SUV is its best-selling vehicle so far this year, with 2,550 orders, of which 63% correspond to its three E-Tense plug-in hybrid versions, according to data from the company.

The average price with which this model is being sold in its diesel version stands at 41,900 euros, while in the plug-in hybrid variants it reaches 52,600 euros on average.

For its part, the firm has registered 1,846 orders for the DS 4, making it the second best-selling model of the brand in 2022 and its plug-in hybrid E-Tense versions represent 37% of the demand. The average sale price of the thermal versions is 37,200 euros and that of the plug-in hybrid is 46,500 euros.

Meanwhile, 655 units of the DS 3 have been sold in the domestic market so far this year and of the DS 9, the new "flagship" of the brand, 119 orders have been registered, of which 74% correspond to its plug-in hybrid versions.

On the other hand, the banner of the Stellantis group has indicated that in the current context, with the logistics and other problems that affect the automotive sector, the delivery times for vehicles handled by DS are around six months in the case of plug-in hybrid models and between two and three months in the others.

In this context, apart from the expansion of the dealer network in Spain, DS has also set an objective for next year to increase its volume of 'online' sales within the framework of its 'multi-channel' strategy.

The company's roadmap for 2023 also includes accelerating the electrification of the brand with the reduction of available thermal engines (currently six) and also with the increase in sales of the 156-horsepower DS 3 E-Tense, 100% electric and with 400 kilometers of autonomy, among other points.

"DS Automobiles is the 'premium' multi-energy brand with the greatest presence of electrified vehicles in its sales mix, with 39.6%, and the one with the lowest average emissions in its range, with 94.7 grams of CO2 per kilometer ( carbon dioxide). In 2023, this philosophy that combines tradition and pioneering spirit, together with a close and personal relationship with the customer, will continue to be the basis of the brand's successes", Sekulits assured.
