Facebook returned to profit in Spain in 2021, after raising its sales by 37%

The company paid 2.8 million in taxes

MADRID, 9 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Facebook earned 2.72 million euros in Spain in 2021, after raising its sales by 37%, which meant leaving behind the red numbers of 2020, marked by confinement, in which losses of 432,000 euros were recorded.

Specifically, the company registered a gross invoiced amount of 371.2 million euros, compared to 270 million in 2020, according to the annual accounts deposited in the Mercantile Registry, to which Europa Press has had access through Infoempresa.

Likewise, the company has presented net income of 33 million euros, 14.8% more in comparable terms. This is because Facebook declares in Spain mainly the support and resale of advertising services from its Irish parent.

After the reform of the General Accounting Plan of 2021, this type of income changed its form of presentation in the accounts and the income must be presented once the value of the sales support is subtracted.

The technology company has also registered a gross operating profit of almost five million euros, 2.5 times more than that recorded in 2020. Facebook paid 2.89 million euros in profit tax as a result of this exercise, which ended with 91 employees.

This is the year prior to the change of name of the firm to Meta and the announcement of extensive investments in Spain such as a data center in Talavera de la Reina (Castilla La Mancha) and the hiring of 2,000 people in the country to promote the metaverse .

However, the change in the markets after the war in Ukraine caused the dismissal of 11,000 employees at the end of the year, a figure that could be increased in the coming weeks, following the latest information about the company, which seeks to increase its efficiency.
