The sale and purchase of homes registered 470,584 transactions until the third quarter of the year, which represents a drop of 13.46% compared to the same period of the previous year, when 543,754 operations were reached, according to the statistics on real estate transactions from the Ministry of Housing. and Urban Agenda consulted by Europa Press.

By quarter, sales reached 142,014 transactions between July and September, the worst figure of the year, since it represents a drop of 16.7% compared to the second quarter, when 170,564 were registered, and 10% less compared to the first. when it closed with 158,006 operations.

Furthermore, the figure for the third quarter represents a drop of 15.86% compared to the same period last year, when sales and purchases reached 168,793 transactions.

By autonomous community, all of them registered falls in the accumulated amount for the year until September, highlighting the Balearic Islands, where transactions fell by 23.92% compared to the same period of the previous year.

They are followed by the falls in Navarra (-23.28%), Ceuta and Melilla (-20.70%), the Community of Madrid (-18.95%), the Basque Country (-18.87%) and the Canary Islands (- 18.79%).

Likewise, real estate sales in the third quarter fell in all autonomous communities. The largest decreases occurred in Navarra (-44.76%), the Basque Country (-27.45%), the Balearic Islands (-26%), the Canary Islands (-24.39%) and Extremadura (-21.47%).

By type of housing, new construction housing fell 16.28%, with a total of 42,560 transactions registered until September, while second-hand housing closed with 428,024 sales, which represents a drop of 13.17%, according to provisional data from the Ministry of Housing.

In the third quarter of the year alone, new construction sales closed with 12,555 transactions, a figure 21.22% lower than the previous year, when 15,936 were reached. For its part, second-hand housing registered 129,459 transactions between July and September, 15.3% less.
