I-80 toll plaza work could mean overnight delays entering Pa.

Upgrades to the E-ZPass system could mean delays the next few nights for drivers entering Pennsylvania by way of Interstate 80 through the Delaware Water Gap.

The E-ZPass express lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. from Tuesday night to Friday morning, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced in a news release. The toll booth regularly used for E-ZPass will be closed for the remainder of the week.

During those hours, motorists will have to use the regular toll booths, which take cash or E-ZPass, the commission said. The far-right shoulder will be open for highway-speed E-ZPass payments during overnight hours.

The commission expects minor delays with the traffic shift.

The project upgrading hardware and software began last year and is scheduled to wrap up in mid-April, the commission said.
