Wayne Hills star quarterback Kevin Olsen beat and raped a woman he had been dating in an alcohol-fueled rage after threatening to kill her and then himself, North Carolina prosecutors told a judge Monday, The Charlotte Observer reported.

Kevin Olsen, 22, was in jail overnight after he was arrested Sunday and accused of second-degree forcible rape, making threats and assaulting a female, according to the publication.

Mecklenburg District Judge Gary Henderson set bond at $103,000, and Olsen was expected to be released sometime Monday, the Observer wrote.

Olsen, a junior quarterback for the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, is the son of Chris Olsen, one of the most successful high school football coaches in New Jersey history, and brother of Greg Olsen, the star tight end of the Carolina Panthers.

Olsen's parents were in court on Monday, according to the report. The once top quarterback recruit has been suspended from the team, the university told WCNC.

The alleged victim was reportedly a 23-year-old female who Olsen was dating, The Charlotte Observer reported. She was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The incident, which reportedly involved alcohol, allegedly took place around 3:30 am in Olsen's off-campus apartment, the Observer reported.

Authorities described the assault in court, according to the paper:

Assistant District Attorney Kristen Northrup read details of the charges to Mecklenburg District Judge Gary Henderson. According to Northrup, Olsen and the 23-year-old woman went out drinking Saturday night but had gotten separated. During their time apart, Northrup said, Olsen sent the woman a text message threatening to kill her. Eventually, the pair reunited and used Uber to get back to Olsen's apartment early Sunday morning. There, Northrup said, Olsen remained upset about the evening "and some events in his life." He grabbed a phone charger and wrapped it around his neck, threatening to kill himself, the prosecutor said. The victim, according to Northrup, calmed Olsen down. But the argument flared up again. Olsen first struck her with a pillow and then punched her in the face, Northrup said. He then assaulted her three times, Northrup said, with the victim crying at some point during the attack. When Olsen fell asleep, the woman slipped out of the apartment and called a friend, Northrup said. Police reached her at Carolinas Medical Center - University, where the women was found to have vaginal injuries and bruising around one of her eyes.

Olsen has had previous run-ins with police. During his senior year in high school, he was charged by Wayne police with leaving the scene of a car accident, for failing to report it and careless driving.

In February 2013, he signed a letter of intent to play quarterback at the University of Miami, where his older brother Greg had starred.

But, once at the University of Miami, he was suspended for two games after reports that he failed a drug test as a freshman and was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and having a fake or stolen driver's license.

He left the school in September 2014 and transferred to Towson University in Baltimore, but was kicked off the team in March 2015 after violating team rules.

He then played at Riverside City College, where he passed for 1,080 yards and 13 touchdowns, before moving from the junior college back to Division I with the UNC-Charlotte 49ers. He initially had the starting job, but lost it in October.
