Ouigo will launch tickets starting at 9 euros on March 19 for travel until December 14

MADRID, 12 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Ouigo, high-speed train operator in Spain with 'low cost' rates, will go on sale on March 19 at 10:00 a.m. tickets from 9 euros to travel until December 14 between Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Tarragona, Albacete, Alicante, Valencia, Valladolid, Segovia and Cuenca.

The company has been operating since May 10, 2021 with ten daily departures that link Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza and Tarragona; Madrid and Valencia, and Madrid, Albacete and Alicante.

From April 19, Ouigo will add Valladolid and Segovia to its destinations, and from June 1, it will also add Cuenca as a new stop between the Madrid-Valencia, Madrid-Alicante and Valladolid-Alicante routes. Later, Ouigo will continue to Elche, Murcia, Córdoba, Seville and Málaga, until reaching 40 departures and 14 destinations.

Recently, the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) authorized Ouigo to provide the four daily services that it had requested for the route between Madrid, Segovia and Valladolid, understanding that this would not significantly reduce Renfe's income.

The regulator estimates that the accumulated impact on the accounts of Renfe's contract to provide its public service on this route will be 0.14% of its income, a figure that is below the 1% that would make it impossible for the French company Ouigo to operate on competition with Renfe.

The tickets that will go on sale on March 19 will be available on its website and in the Ouigo app and start at 9 euros for the general fare, with a flat rate of 7 euros for children between 4 and 13 years and free for children up to 3 years old.
