Police identify bicyclist killed in collision Monday

A 53-year-old bicycle rider killed Monday in a collision with a truck has been identified as Alan Izi Marsan, whose last known address was in Southwest Portland, Portland police said Wednesday.

The truck driver has been identified as Vinay Junior Singh, 38, of Northeast Portland.

Traffic Division investigators believe Marsan was riding his bicycle north on Interstate Avenue in the bicycle lane at about 9 a.m. Monday. Singh also was driving north on Interstate when he made a right turn onto Farragut Street, striking Marsan in the bike lane.

Neither impairment nor distracted driving by the truck driver are believed to have been factors in the crash.

Singh was not arrested or cited. The crash remains under investigation. Once the investigation is complete, it will be forwarded to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review and consideration of possible charges.
