The general Portland metro area didn't get the forecasted slam of snow, but various Oregon locations saw crazy weather of all sorts on Sunday.  

Sunday was the wettest February day in Newport since the 19th century according to the National Weather Service. Newport's 4.44 inches of rain was the heaviest February rainfall since Feb. 8, 1899.

Not to be outdone, the Portland International Airport also recorded its wettest February day with 2.19 inches. The previous record was 2.16 inches set in 1996.

The snow storm limited itself to odd places like Astoria, which received 3-4 inches of accumulation. Also many higher elevations in Washington County saw snow on and off through Sunday.

On the other hand, Roseburg hit a high on Sunday of 63 degrees. Wacky.  

For Monday we'll have numerous showers with snow levels hovering between 500 and 1000 feet. Heavier showers could bring snow down to the valley floor or show snow mixed in with the rain. There's also the possibility of thundershowers at least through the morning. The high for Monday is forecast for 40 degrees.  

Tuesday will bring another chance for low elevation snow primarily south of Salem. Expect Tuesday to be mostly cloudy with showers and a high of 39.  Forecasters for the National Weather Service see precipitation increasing Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with temperatures very near freezing overnight. This could bring us another chance of freezing rain, especially near the Gorge. Watch the updated forecasts as we go further into the week.
