Wednesday will feature rain across the region, breezy conditions for the valleys, high winds for the coastal areas. Expect a high today of 51 degrees.  

Quite a bit of rain is expected in two waves on Wednesday; one early in the morning, the next mid-afternoon through this evening. The coast will be the hardest hit with 2 to 3 inches of precipitation expected. Interior valleys and the Oregon Cascades will see 1 to 1.5 inches.  

The National Weather service notes that currently, no rivers are forecast to approach flood stage, however significant rises are expected. And, as usual, smaller streams will run high later today as a result of moderate to heavy rainfall.

Strong winds, especially at the coast, arrive with both bouts of precipitation. A high wind warning is posted for the coast with peak gusts expected from 65 to 75 mph on the coastal headlands and beaches, and 55 to 65 mph a bit farther inland. This will make for a wild day at the beach.

Good news for the Columbia River Gorge - the National Weather Service canceled the ice storm warning for the western Gorge zone. Areas to east in the Central Gorge and Hood River Valley, will still see some freezing rain this morning. Temperatures should rise enough this afternoon for no more winter weather for the Gorge for the remainder of the week.

For Portland on Thursday, expect intermittent showers and a high of 52.
