Redexis Renovables buys 2 biogas plants and plans to invest 400 million by 2030 in 30 biomethane plants

MADRID, 13 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Redexis Renovables, a Redexis group company focused on the production of renewable gases, has purchased two biogas plants and plans to mobilize an investment of more than 400 million euros to have more than 30 biomethane plants in 2030, the company reported.

Specifically, the company has acquired BioRed Lorca (formerly Galivi Solar SL) and BioRed Los Alcázares (formerly GV Ecogest), both in the Region of Murcia.

With the necessary adaptations and after the commissioning of the biomethane evacuation branches and the 'upgrading' units, Redexis Renovables indicated that a total of 80 gigawatt hours (GWh) of biomethane will be produced and injected annually, managing 211,000 tons of agri-food, agro-industrial and livestock waste per year and around 14,600 tons of CO2 equivalent will be saved in emissions.

The total investment that the company will make for the acquisition, start-up and operation of these plants and their adaptation to biomethane will be 22 million euros, generating clean gas for the Spanish energy system and employment that could reach 70 people. direct and indirect.

These two acquisitions allow Redexis Renovables to position itself as one of the leaders in the promotion of this renewable gas in Spain from agricultural waste, since it has the EnergyGreen Gas Almazán, BioRed Lorca and BioRed Los Alcázares plants.

Likewise, last year it began the administrative processing of another eight plants located in Aragón, Castilla y León and Extremadura, becoming a benchmark in biomethane production at the national level.

The CEO of Redexis, Fidel López Soria, pointed out that these acquisitions demonstrate the company's "strong commitment" to decarbonization, and "for this to be efficient, the role of renewable gases is key."

"We are acquiring first-hand experience in the operation and management of this type of plants since this year, and our purpose is to ensure the optimal management of all projects in the medium term," he added in this regard.
