Resident's tip about noises at neighbor's home leads to arrest

GALLOWAY TWP -- A resident's tip about a possible burglary on Sunday led to the arrest of a 49-year-old man.

William Ireland, of Galloway Township, was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief after someone called police about a possible robbery at a neighbor's home, police said on Facebook.

Police arrived to find the house had been burglarized, but found the suspect had fled.

A K9 unit later located Ireland in the area. He was allegedly in possession of stolen items.

Police said he allegedly committed two burglaries on Sunday. Ireland is also accused of stealing a vehicle and committing another burglary in Absecon.

He was transported to Atlantic County Jail.
