A security guard that had been questioned in a shooting Saturday has since been released without charges, police said. 

The shooting happened about 1:25 a.m. Saturday in a store in the 3800 block of West Roosevelt Road in the city's Lawndale neighborhood.

A 55-year-old security guard shot a 27-year-old man who had thrown a brick and bottle at him during an argument, police said.

The younger man was wounded in the chest and abdomen. He was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. 

The security guard had been taken into custody for questioning.
