The Government increases the credit to 85 million euros to facilitate agri-food and fishing financing

MADRID, 9 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Official State Gazette (BOE) publishes this Tuesday the extension by six million euros of the line of aid aimed at obtaining guarantees from the State Agrarian Caution Society (SAECA), which allows guaranteeing the financing of loans to holders of agricultural holdings and economic operators in the fishing sector or agri-food industries.

With this extension, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food increases the credit enabled to facilitate financing for the agri-food sector through the ICO-MAPA-SAECA line to 85 million euros, of which 25 million are for the subsidy of guarantees and 60 million for the amortization of the principal capital.

In total, more than 10,300 credit operations have been subscribed, the Department led by Luis Planas reported in a statement.

The call for subsidies to obtain guarantees was made on November 15, 2023.

With this extension, the budget allocated by the Ministry to this line of guarantees reaches 25,082,036 euros, and it is estimated that the maximum amount of guaranteed credits will be around 50 million euros. These aids are granted on a direct concession basis and in strict order of submission of applications.

The subsidies from the SAECA guarantee are intended entirely to complement the subsidies from the ICO-MAPA-SAECA credit line. The guarantee subsidy line is compatible with aid for the amortization of the principal of the credits of said line.

This subsidizes up to 15% of the principal of the credits subscribed by the potential beneficiaries, among whom are the owners of agricultural holdings, agri-food cooperatives, operators of wholesale trade in fruits and vegetables and cotton preparation, as well as such as operators in the fishing and aquaculture sector.

This subsidy from the ICO-MAPA-SAECA line is endowed with a budget of 60 million euros, contributed entirely by the Ministry.
