The number of unemployed reached 6.360 million in the ninth month of the year, compared to 6.355 million in August, including 1.216 million long-term unemployed (those without work for 27 weeks or more), which represented 19.1% of the total unemployed.

For its part, the number of people employed part-time for economic reasons fell by 156,000, to 4.065 million in September. Likewise, the labor force participation rate stood at 62.8%, unchanged.

According to data published this Thursday, initial applications for unemployment benefits in the United States reached a total of 207,000 applications last week, which represents an increase of 2,000 people compared to the previous mark.

Recipients of unemployment benefits totaled 1,664 million in the week ending September 23, which represents a slight decline in the number of beneficiaries of 1,000 people compared to the 1,665 million of the previous week. In the same comparable period of 2022, citizens with benefits reached 1,302 million.
