The Union of Associations of Self-Employed Workers and Entrepreneurs (Uatae) has insisted on the need to reform the RETA (Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers) and the contribution based on real income as part of its seven proposals, as announced this Tuesday in a statement.

The announcement was made on the occasion of the appearance of the Minister of Social Security, Elma Saiz, next Wednesday in the Commission of the Congress of Deputies.

Uatae has claimed the "immediate" need to create an observatory for the analysis and monitoring of the RETA reform for all issues related to the equalization of rights and obligations of the self-employed, as well as the implementation of a contribution system based on real income. .

Among Uatae's proposals is the improvement of the benefit for cessation of activity "until its real effectiveness is achieved", as it ensures that only 47% of benefit requests have been favorable, in addition to the fact that its contribution is not mandatory in the called 'flat rates', thus unprotecting the self-employed who are starting their activity.

Furthermore, Uatae defends "the need" to extend unemployment benefits to the self-employed, since they do not have the possibility of contributing for unemployment, but only for cessation of activity, which directly affects the integration of contribution gaps for the self-employed. for the calculation of the retirement pension.

Partial retirement to encourage the generational change of self-employed workers is also part of Uatae's proposal, as well as early retirement in "painful, dangerous, toxic or unhealthy" activities.

The general secretary of Uatae, María José Landaburu, has defined this plan as "primary", ensuring that its approval must be immediate "to guarantee the expansion of rights of the group as a whole."
