Unidas Podemos has registered a battery of written questions in Congress for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, led by Nadia Calviño, to provide figures on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on employment.

In the justification of their questions, to which Europa Press has had access, the 'purples' argue that the company Domestila has recently announced the dismissal of 89 workers for the automation of some processes through the implementation of artificial intelligence applications, such as ChatGPT .

The number of layoffs, according to Unidas Podemos, represents 45% of the workforce of the company's Madrid subsidiary. To this, says the group, would be added a hundred workers dismissed last year for similar reasons.

For Unidas Podemos, the development of new information technologies and AI has a direct effect on most sectors of the business fabric and on employment, which, in their opinion, generates "a situation of uncertainty for all the levels".

For these reasons, the confederal group wants to know the forecasts of the Ministry of Nadia Calviño in relation to the impact of new technologies and AI in the different economic sectors in Spain, as well as its effect on employment and what measures the Government plans to adopt accordingly. in order to avoid "mass layoffs" of workers by companies that implement this type of technology in their production processes.
