The lakefront condominium apartment that Chicago Sun-Times columnist and TV personality Irv Kupcinet owned from the 1960s until his death was listed Tuesday for just under $2.5 million.
Kupcinet and his wife, Essee, bought the three-bedroom, 3,020-square-foot unit in the mid-1960s directly from the developer of the building at 1040 N. Lake Shore Drive. They then brought in designer Richard Himmel to perform the interior design work on the apartment.
Essee Kupcinet was 85 when she died in 2001 and Irv Kupcinet was 91 when he died in 2003. The Kupcinets' estate sold the condo in August 2004 for $1.65 million. Now those buyers have decided to list it.
