A man in southern France is alleging that San Francisco-based rideshare app Uber may be responsible for the demise of his marriage, and has filed a suit against the company to the tune of €45 million (or, $45 million USD).
The man says he once used his wife's phone to request an Uber ride, but signed out of his account so as to avoid creating any suspicion about where he was going. Unfortunately, the adulterer's plan was not successful, according to the BBC, as his wife began receiving text messages alerting her as to whenever the man would take Uber rides to see his mistress.
The man maintains that all of this can be traced back to a "bug" in the application, according to his lawyer, David-André Darmon.
A French businessman is suing Uber after his wife figured out he was cheating and divorced him. Keri Lumm (@thekerilumm) reports.
"The bug has caused him problems in his private life," the lawyer added. The couple have since divorced.
The rideshare company has not publicly addressed the ordeal, saying that, "Uber doesn't publicly comment on individual cases, and especially those which concern things such as a divorce procedure."
The case's first hearing is scheduled for March.
