- Xinhua Silk Road:Global conference held in Guangzhou's Nansha district sees fruitful achievements in climate investment and finance

BEIJING, Nov. 23, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- The just-concluded Pearl Bay International Climate Finance and Investment Conference 2023 witnessed fruitful achievements, while Guangzhou's Nansha District, in collaboration with 11 entities, established the Climate Alliance Pearl River Delta (Nansha) Climate Financing and Investment and launched 200 billion yuan of joint bank credit, 100 billion yuan of climate fund, as well as 50 billion yuan of climate investment and financing projects.

Additionally, a guideline aimed at improving financial industry standards and encouraging the development of a carbon finance market was published during the conference.

A series of events under the Pearl Bay International Climate Finance and Investment Conference 2023 were held from November 17 to 18 in Nansha District of Guanghou, south China's Guangdong Province, marked significant progress in climate financing and investment initiatives.

Nansha, which is the new national-level exclusive district in Guangdong and the largest comprehensive cooperation demonstration area for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, has become a focal point in the global sphere of climate investment and finance.

This international event, themed “Climate Finance for a Better World,” is the first of its kind in China and focuses on climate finance. It had three offices abroad in Paris, Singapore and Dubai.

The event also created thematic forums that attracted more than 500 attendees who shared the latest knowledge in the space of investment and climate finance, while imagining possible collaborations.

As Guangzhou's gateway to the sea, Nansha is the connecting point of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the Land Silk Road, and is committed to making greater contributions to global green and sustainable development.

The conference dedicated a specific exhibition hall to climate investment and financing that supports green projects, showcasing more than 10 climate-friendly projects in Nansha, including the Magic Box unmanned coffee vehicle, hydrogen-powered transportation service, Hycan Automobile Technology, Greater Bay Technology, CloudWalk Technology, among others.

This conference was jointly organized by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, Xinhua News Agency and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. The Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, the Guangdong Branch of Xinhua News Agency and the China Economic Information Service were responsible for the execution of the event.
