("Westport" or "the Company") (TSX: WPRT) (Nasdaq: WPRT), a leading provider of advanced alternative fuel systems and components for the global transportation industry, today announced the successful completion of a heavy haul demonstration with its prototype truck equipped with the H HPDI™ fuel system hauling a refrigerated trailer in Madrid, Spain. The demonstration is the first of its kind in Spain and represents an important step forward in the decarbonization of heavy transportation in the country.

The demonstration has been possible thanks to Mercadona, one of the main Spanish supermarket chains, which has successfully carried out the test by providing a distribution service in Madrid and thus contributing to progress towards more sustainable logistics.
