David Huyck, principal of Chasco Middle School since 2011, has been appointed to take over Crews Lake Middle School as it aims to regain its footing after the unexpected death of its former leader.

Adam Kennedy, who led Crews Lake for two years, died after an early morning crash on his way to work Jan. 20. Beth Brown served as acting principal, but her time ends Friday.

Superintendent Kurt Browning said he did not want to leave the campus without leadership, Holiganbet but also aimed to have sensitivity in how he looked for and picked the next principal. Huyck was one of a handful of leaders that Crews Lake teachers proposed as a good fit for the students and staff.

His appointment is contingent on School Board approval, which is scheduled for Feb. 7. A new leader for Chasco Middle has not been named.
