Comedy Central orders South Side workplace comedy pilot

Comedy Central has ordered a pilot about a rent-to-own business on the South Side, network representatives announced Tuesday.

The untitled workplace comedy will be written by Chicago natives Bashir and Sultan Salahuddin and NBC's "Marlon" star Diallo Riddle, who will also have roles in the pilot. Michael Blieden ("Late Night with Jimmy Fallon") is set to direct and co-executive produce.

The pilot is one of nine Comedy Central announced Tuesday as part of its 2017-18 development slate. The South Side is already the backdrop for Lena Waithe's upcoming Showtime series "The Chi," which recently began filming here.
