Rockbiter in "The Neverending Story" needs a big, good, strong beer.

Carrying around such gloom from losing his "little friends" can't solely be remedied with anti-depressants. Sure, therapy would help, but a big, good, strong beer would also aid him in washing down that strict diet of rocks.

("They look like big, good, strong hands," he laments to Atreyu, after the Nothing ripped his pals out of his hands. They do look strong, man, but it's the Nothing. Come on.)

On March 4, Avery Brewing will have some big, good, strong beer at its 15th annual Strong Ale Fest. The event (noon-5 p.m.), will be "bringing beers of brawn to one strong holding pen," its website reads — beers that clock in at 8 percent alcohol-by-volume or higher.

Tickets are $55, and proceeds benefit Get Outside And Learn Something (GOALS, inspiring youth with wilderness river expeditions) and include 16 pours at three ounces and a commemorative glass.

There will be food for purchase to pad those boozy beasts of beers, but probably no rocks.

Tequila sour

Sunday, Avery will release No. 42 of its Barrel-Aged Series, Nox Reposado, a tequila dark sour ale that was aged in Suerte Tequila barrels for six months. The line starts at 11 a.m and sales start at 1 p.m.; $12 per bottle and two-case limit.

On Sunday, Avery will also be selling limited quantities its barrel-aged favorites: 2014 Beast, 2015 Mephistopheles, 2015 Rumpkin, Black Eye, Fortuna, Antonius, Expletus, Xolotl, III Dolia, Twenty-Three, 2010 Kaiser, 2012 Kaiser.

Win tickets: On Sunday (it has to be this Sunday), tag @averybrewingco on Facebook, Instragram or Twitter with a photo of your Nox Reposa to enter for a chance to win two tickets to the Strong Ale Fest.

Mardi party

To celebrate Mardi Gras, Avery will release Uncle Jacob's Stout on Feb. 28 (Fat Tuesday) at 11 a.m., and will be serving up New Orleans-style fare like jambalaya, po' boys and beignets.

Whoever finds the baby in Avery's King Cake, wins a free bottle of Uncle Jacob's.

If you don't understand that last sentence, look it up, it'll sound less creepy.
