‘Sweet/Vicious’ Canceled Or Renewed For Season 2? MTV President Gives Update About The Show’s Fate

“Sweet/Vicious” may still be renewed for Season 2 despite its low Season 1 ratings.

MTV president Chris McCarthy admitted to Deadline that “Sweet/Vicious’” numbers were “disappointing,” but he acknowledged that the “sentiment for the show has been nothing but fantastic.” He added that he and his fellow execs love the characters of the series and how it relates to modern feminism.

In a separate interview with The Hollywood Reporter, McCarthy revealed that the fate of the series is still up in the air as they are trying to work on the best way to re-introduce the show for its potential Season 2.

“‘Sweet/Vicious’ is a story we think is incredibly important and very timely and we’re trying to figure out what the right way to re-launch that and figure out what the next iteration of that is,” McCarthy said. “No decision has been made yet but we love the show and are trying to figure that out.”

Eliza Bennett, who plays Jules on the series, recently opened up to Hypable about why she thinks MTV should renew the show for another season.

“We have so many more stories to tell,” said the British actress. “The response from survivors has been so powerful, and I just want to be able to tell them that not only was your story worth telling, but we want to tell more. I know I’m biased, but this show is special and it is doing something so much greater than just being entertaining television. And then on a personal level, I’m working with some of my best friends on this show and I don’t want that to stop.”

Series creator Jennifer Kaytin Robinson previously told Entertainment Weekly that that they would like to tell a story about a gay sexual assault survivor if the show gets renewed for Season 2. Robinson added that they would also like to explore stories about male sexual assault survivors, race issues and bullying in Season 2.
