Watch Conan O'Brien recall living with 'madman' Jeff Garlin in Wrigleyville

Before they had starring roles on television shows, Conan O'Brien and Jeff Garlin were young comedians living together in Wrigleyville in the summer of 1988.

"I'd be fast asleep, it would be 3 in the morning, he would kick my door open, kick my door open and say 'It's pudding pop time,'" O'Brien said of Garlin Tuesday on "Conan."

O'Brien said Garlin would also "make me do impressions and skits for him for his amusement, and for some reason, I did. He has that power. I didn't say no. I just was like, this guy is yelling at me to perform, I better do it."

Conan O'Brien and Jeff Garlin used to be roommates in Chicago.

O'Brien's guest Tuesday was Garlin's co-star on "The Goldbergs," Sean Giambrone, who agreed with O'Brien's assessment that Garlin is "kind of a madman" who says "random, crazy things all the time."

"He held up a fork to his eye and said, 'I'm in jail,'" Giambrone said of the Chicago-area native.

"Conan" airs 10 p.m. weeknights on TBS.
