Boulder Community Health closing outpatient pain clinic

Boulder Community Health is closing its outpatient pain clinic effective March 31. The clinic's patients, who now are treated at its offices at Boulder Community Hospital, will instead be treated at the BCH family medicine clinics in Boulder, Gunbarrel and Lafayette, according to a statement BCH issued Thursday.

"This was a difficult decision," said Dr. Robert Vissers, president and chief executive officer of BCH, in a statement. "Our experienced pain management team is very committed to their patients and has a strong reputation for providing quality care. However, this new approach will allow us to provide more support for our primary care physicians in managing their patient's pain and, over time, provide those patients more access to integrative therapies such as acupuncture and massage therapy as an alternative to conventional medication-based management."
