Librarian reports somebody checked out her iPhone: Pepper Pike police blotter

 

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio -- Theft from building, Chagrin Boulevard: A Reminderville woman working at the Orange Public Library employee reported the theft of an iPhone 7 on Feb. 1 sometime between 8:50 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The phone was last tracked to the area of Northfield and Harvard Roads.

Drunk driving, improper display of lights, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia; Fox Hollow and Brookwood drives: A Cleveland west side man, 22, was stopped around 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 9 and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, as well as minor misdemeanors for marijuana. His car was impounded.

Harassing communications, Chagrin Boulevard: A Chagrin Falls woman called police Feb. 7 to report harassing phone calls she has been getting the real estate office where she works in Pepper Pike. An investigation is pending.

Larceny, Park Pointe Court: A resident reported on the evening of Feb. 3 that a package, containing a water filtration system with no attached value, was stolen from the front of their house.

Car crash, Cedar Road: A Cleveland Heights woman, 32, was taken to Hillcrest Hospital about 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 and later cited for assured clear distance after her 2011 Nissan Versa rear-ended a 2011 Honda Pilot driven by a University Heights woman, 35, while both were eastbound on Cedar.

The Versa was towed from the scene, with the police report indicating the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Civil matter, Shaker Boulevard: A resident, 54, came to the station Feb. 1 to report a civil matter concerning a former landlord who was withholding mail, including an insurance claim check, addressed to the complainant at his former residence.

Fraud (checks or negotiable instrument - felony), Chagrin Boulevard: A representative from Apollo Property Management reported Feb. 1 that there had been an attempt to cash fraudulent company checks, possibly in excess of $1,000. An investigation is pending.

Suspicion, Chagrin Boulevard: A representative from the Visconsi development company reported a possible scam attempt over the telephone on Feb. 1.

Disorderly conduct (juveniles), Chagrin Boulevard: Police were notified of a verbal altercation between two students at Orange High School around 9 a.m. on Feb. 1 that required intervention by staff.

The two girls were separated and school officials handled the subsequent disciplinary action.
