A man tried to rape a drunken Columbia University student on a Hell’s Kitchen street corner, police sources said Monday.

He was seen trying to rape the woman at 51st Street and Eighth Avenue around 2 a.m. Sunday, and a witness called 911, sources said.

Suspect Lorenzo Williams told police he was the woman’s friend and was trying to help her, sources said. The woman later told cops she had blacked out and didn’t know the man. Williams was charged with attempted rape, sex assault and forcible touching.
