Parents flee country after being blamed for son’s death

A judge has issued an arrest warrant for a Minnesota couple accused of allowing their sick 7-year-old son to die in a pool of vomit — because they fled to New Zealand before their first court appearance.

Timothy Johnson, 39, and his wife Sarah, 38, were supposed to show up to Hennepin County District Court on Tuesday to answer for the March 2015 death of their adopted son Seth, according to the Minnesota StarTribune.

The couple left the child in his 16-year-old brother’s care while they went to an out-of-town wedding, the paper reported. They found him unresponsive on the floor when they returned, and decided to pray for his health rather than seek Grbets medical help. The next morning, they found him unconscious and covered in vomit, according to reports.

The child had health issues, but the family did not want him on medication and instead relied on their own research to diagnose him — he was underdeveloped and had cuts and bruises on his body at the time of death, the StarTribune reported.

The Johnsons were not arrested, but Judge Gina Brandt issued a warrant for their capture after a prosecutor told her the pair moved to New Zealand, the paper reported.
