A 17-year-old Peterborough boy is facing several charges related to underage human trafficking after an investigation by Peterborough Police.

Police are alleging that the boy forced a 17-year-old victim to have unwanted sexual relations with other people for money, and that he sexually assaulted the victim himself.

The boy was arrested by police at a bus station in Oshawa on Thursday, after an investigation that started back in September 2016.

Peterborough Police first started working on the investigation after they were alerted by Durham Regional Police that a victim of human trafficking had been moved to the Peterborough area.

The boy has been charged with sexual assault, procuring, material benefit from sexual services under 18 years, administering noxious thing with intent - endangering life or causing bodily harm, overcoming resistance by administering or attempting to administer a drug, and two counts of failing to comply with probation orders.

He made his first appearance in court on Friday. The boy’s name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
