Police respond to business robbery: Lakewood police blotter

Robbery, Detroit Avenue: A suspect wearing a brown hoodie robbed a Check into Cash store about 3 p.m. Feb. 9, according to police records. The robber had a small gray gun and made an employee lie on the floor in a back room during the crime. Police were notified by a hold-up alarm.

MVA hit-skip, Lake Avenue: An apartment resident called police about 7 a.m. Feb. 9 to report finding his car had been struck overnight and the other driver took off without leaving any contact information.

Burglary, Forest Road: A woman contacted police about 8:45 a.m. Feb. 9 to report her home apparently had been broken into. No details immediately were available about what had been taken.

Petty theft, Detroit Avenue: Police were called to the United Dairy Farmer's store about 8 p.m. Feb. 9. A 19- to 20-year-old man inside the store began eating a bunch of items and refused to pay for them. He walked away from the store before police arrived.  

Petty theft, Lakewood Heights Boulevard: A car owner called police about 6:45 a.m. Feb. 8 to report their vehicle was entered overnight and someone removed money from a wallet left inside the vehicle.

Robbery, Edgewater Drive: A man notified police about 12:46 p.m. Feb. 8 that he had been carjacked. He was in a parking lot when two men in an SUV approached him and hit him over the back of the head with a gun. The vehicles were last seen driving eastbound on Edgewater.

Burglary, West Clifton Road: A delivery driver notified police about 11:30 a.m. Feb. 7 that he discovered a rear door to a home open and no one was answering when he called inside the home. In addition, a "rather aggressive" dog who lives in the house did not seem to be around. Police called the homeowner, who was downtown, and asked him to come back to his Lakewood house to assist police.

Breaking and entering, Madison Avenue: Police responded to a burglar alarm about 8 p.m. Feb. 6 at a bike shop. A witness saw a man wearing a white or gray hoodie running from the area and going southbound on Marlowe.

Petty theft, Eldred Avenue: A caller to police about 2 p.m. Feb. 5 reported the theft of a dealer license plate that had been displayed on his parked car.

Driving under the influence, W. 117th Street: A caller to police said a man struck his car about 6 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Detroit Avenue intersection and then took off southbound on W. 117th. Police located the other car and arrested the driver on charges including operating a vehicle while impaired and having an open container.
