Queen Elizabeth’s swans are being mysteriously murdered

God save the swans!

Queen Elizabeth II’s swans have been mysteriously gunned down in the English countryside just west of London, according to multiple reports.

At least twelve of the birds have been shot, two fatally, by “high-powered air rifles” with steel ball bearings the same size as marbles, reports said.

All of the birds were shot about a week ago in either the head or neck, leaving some blind or with shattered beaks.

Metro UK reported a swan was found battered to death close by a few weeks before the shootings.

Gruesome photos of the birds show bright red blood matted against their typically pristine, white fur.

Police are still searching for the person or people responsible for the royal avicide and if caught, could face serious fines and jail time.

The Queen owns all swans in the country under an ancient English tradition. The 12 swans that were shot were all tagged with a ceremonial ring on their legs indicating their royal status.

Wendy Hermon from Swan Support told Angle News she has “no words” to describe the killings.

“I cannot understand what pleasure anyone could possibly get from shooting innocent swans. They are peaceful and beautiful birds and they trust people who feed them,” Hermon said.

“I am sure her Majesty will be horrified to hear that someone is taking pleasure out of shooting them.”

Heat Street reported residents are offering to start their own patrol group to defend the birds.

This isn’t the first time swans were targeted in England.

In 2011, seven swans were shot to death and an eighth was seriously injured about 120 miles from Windsor Castle, according to The Sun.
