South Euclid man charged in woman's fatal shooting on Cleveland's East Side

CLEVELAND, Ohio - A South Euclid man has been charged after a woman was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon on the city's East Side.

Derrell Odom, 33, is charged with one count of aggravated murder in Cleveland Municipal Court, records show. Odom, who was struck in the hip during the Wednesday shootout, remains in the intensive care unit at University Hospitals, a charging document states.

Odom is accused of fatally shooting Tionna Young, 31, around 11 a.m. on the 3400 block of East 140th Street, near Kinsman Road in the city's Mount Pleasant neighborhood. Young, who was struck in the chest and arm, was taken to University Hospitals, where she died, Cleveland police spokesman Det. Reginald Lanton said.

The shooting broke out after Odom burst into Young's apartment uninvited, the charging document states. He exchanged gunfire with another man in Young's house who left the shooting scene before police arrived.

Court records do not state when Odom is expected to make his initial court appearance.
