COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The man accused of raping and killing an Ohio State University student last week was ordered held without bond after appearing in court on Monday, reports say.

Brian Lee Golsby, 29, of Grove City, appeared in Franklin County Municipal Court on charges of aggravated murder, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, receiving stolen property and rape.

Investigators say Golsby abducted Reagan Tokes, 21, after she left her part-time job Wednesday night. Golsby took Tokes to a nearby park, where he sexually assaulted her and then killed her by shooting her twice in the head, prosecutors say. Her nude body was found Thursday in the park.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien will seek the death penalty against Golsby.

"All I can say about Reagan is we miss her deeply," Tokes' father, Toby Tokes, said outside the courtroom, the Lantern reports. "She didn't deserve what happened to her."

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Golsby has a long criminal history that includes violent offenses, including threatening his mother with a knife when he was 14 years old. He was released in November 2016 after serving six years in prison in connection with a 2010 rape and robbery.

The woman attacked by Golsby in 2010 tells 10tv.com that she doesn't like the death penalty, but says it might be the only way to stop Golsby. She says she wishes Golsby had received a longer sentence for the 2010 attack.

"It's all been very hard. I'd especially been praying for Reagan and her family. I can't imagine what they've suffered through," Sheila Merwin, 71, tells 10tv.com.

Detectives in Columbus tell the Dispatch they are working to see if Golsby might be connected to violent robberies in the city's German Village area.

Tokes was from Maumee, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo, and was a psychology major at Ohio State. She was expecting to graduate in May.

Money is being raised for a scholarship in Tokes' memory with a GoFundMe page.
